i was talking to my mom and she has begun fulltime pioneering.. she is grieving over the loss of her son and its all just too much.. i told her to quit pioneering and take care of her.
she said , but i gave my word.. i said it makes me sick that you feel the pressure to do this and not give yourself time.
she is already feeling rundown and beginning to hate going out and it's just the second month!.

I am sorry to hear of your and your mother's loss. I'm sorry that I don't have the letter you are looking for, however maybe you can help your mom to appreciate that if you had a child that died she would not expect you to live up to any commitment that you made prior to that childs death. And our heavenly father is far more compassionate than we could ever be. So the fact that she gave her word in no way obligates her in God's eyes. I will be praying for you both.

No since I Brought to his attention the change in understanding he gets it. He just never thought there was new light, it went right over his head.

I agree that this should not be a basis for counting or calculating, but it seems to represent a time period and not the present understanding of a "wicked generation" that will be alive whenever the end comes. This can be seen by the verses in Matt. and Luke just before talking about the generation. These scriptures relate the generation to a time period ( the time between the fig trees budding and summer). So it seem to me that the generation that sees the begining should see the end, just further proof to me that 1914 is an incorrect date.

My father-in-law an elder of over 50 years last week when i questioned him thought "this generation" still applied to people alive and aware in 1914. do you know of elders still holding to old teachings?

I don't think there will be a cry of peace and security anytime soon with all the BS going on in the middle east and with North Korea testing a nuclear bomb. So if there is a hurring of it maybe there won't be time for that prophisy to be fulfilled.

i was doing some research on another topic and this scripural point kept coming up - jesus said "no one comes to me unless the father who sent me draws him" this word draw means to "entice" or "attract".
in light of this statement, does this mean we actually do not have free will to decide to serve christ?

The scripture says that no one can come to Jesus unless drawn to him by God. I don't believe this means that we don't have freedom to choose. If we come to Jesus it is because we have learned of him and about him from the Bible. That is the only way we can know of Jesus, and since the Bible is inspired of God, then we have all been drawn to Jesus by God. Have you ever known anyone to become a believer in Jesus without reading the Bible? This in no way hinders our freedom of choise. If we were shown 2 doors, A & B and asked to make a choise we would not choose C because we don't realize we have that choise. God simply shows us door C and allows us to choose. I don't see this conflicting with other scriptures.

I've been lurking for a while finally decided to jump in with both feet. Here goes, doesn't it seem obvous that the bible writer was saying that the cry of peace and security was not a prophisy for true christians but that true christians would not need a sign?
